LOUISIANA – A Catholic priest has been charged with stealing $5 million worth of gifts for priests from an organization in Louisiana.
The Louisiana attorney general’s office says that in April the Rev. Joseph Pfleger allegedly stole the gifts from the parish church and from the church’s church funds.
Pflegers alleged that he was told by parishioners that the money was for church use.
He allegedly then told parishioner, Father Michael DeLuca, that he had no right to it and that he could not use it for his personal benefit.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the charges against Pflegger stem from a theft of $5.3 million in gifts from a parish church.
