Pat Priest and the Islanders are not the only franchise to look to fill a need on their roster.
They also might look to add some depth to their blue line, which has been a glaring weakness of the team for much of the season.
Here’s how to find the next Patrick Roy or Erik Karlsson to make your roster in the New Jersey area.
A quick note about NHL roster sizes: Teams have an average of 53 players on their 40-man roster.
That means a maximum of 15 players can be added to each roster, or 15 per NHL team.
If a team adds 10 players to its 40-player roster, the team has a maximum allowed of 21 players.
If two teams add 10 players each, the teams’ rosters can have an additional 20 players.
So, if you’re interested in a player, just head to NHL.com, click the “Player Search” button on the top right-hand side, and type in the name of the player you’re looking for.
In this case, the Islanders will be looking for the forward Patrick Roy, who was named the NHL’s Sixth Star of the Month on Feb. 15.
Here is the NHL roster for Feb. 17:1.
